I have some web pages that embed a PDF document. This worked fine in all major browsers until a couple weeks ago (late December 2018 / early January 2019). It still works fine in IE, Chrome and Edge but not Firefox. It's like Firefox is completely ignoring the <object> tag. I verified I have the latest version of Firefox. I'm on a Windows 10 machine.

I created a small/simple web page to display the issue (it's only 15 lines of html code):

http://missilecommand.org/control_panels/test.html

I tried installing the Firefox add-on for PDF, but that did not help.

Can anyone please help me get this working in Firefox? Thanks,

Joe (joemagiera at ameritech dot net) joemagiera@ameritech.net

This is what shows when I access the link. Note: Automatic zoom was pre-selected.

And this is when 100% zoom is selected. Note the amount of the document that is displayed.

Hi Fred,

Thank you very much for your reply. We obviously must have some different settings on our PC's for Firefox. When I try it in IE, Edge and Chrome, I get what you showed in your pics. When I try it in Firefox, I get nothing (please see attached pic).

I'm on a brand new Windows 10 PC, perhaps the initial/default settings need to be tweeked. But I looked at Firefox settings and nothing jumps out to me as incorrect.

Also, what setting controls auto zoom? Can it be default set to 100%? I couldn't find that either.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Joe

No idea. It was set when the page loaded. But the bigger issue is the display area. I think that is why the file is displayed so small.

Note: If I use the direct link, the file opens up full page.

BTW, I am on a Windows 7 using Firefox v54. I refuse to give up my add-ons.

I guess I'd just like to go back to my original problem of the test web page works in IE, Edge, Chrome but not on Firefox (at least not from my Windows 10 machine).

It worked in Fred's on Windows 7. Can anyone identify any settings or something else I need to get it to embed the file on my PC via Firefox? Thanks,

Joe
