My google mail keeps asking for a verification code to sign into my account. It appears someone from Iran is trying to log into my Firefox account.

It's possible that it's intentional and targeted. It's also possible that someone thinks your address is their address, or their cheating boyfriend/girlfriend's address, etc. I don't think there is a way to know that.

Hi jewelldebbi7, that sounds like a terrible situation, but it is beyond the scope of this forum.

Hi annahuckaba, are you familar with using the Add-ons page to review and clean up add-ons? Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

You also could scan your system using this well-regarded software -- there is a free version and a free trial of the more full-featured version: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/

Hello to every one. Reading these comments and getting educated myself online about the existing risk of losing our identity is scare my a lot. For the last 2 years I have face what it is to have my devices hacked. My macpro is gone after I discovered the hackers chat roon and part of unknown data storaged on my device. I took videos using whatsup, reported to every us agencies, visited Mac store many times until finally they got copy of my mac, reported to google fake emails and yahoo under my name etc...What I got after? losing my identity, having havkers sending me popup messages, having now my samsung hacked, cant find a job because my emails are deleted, my contacts cant reach me because calls goes redirect to unknown number, important records, resume etc gone. Now think about the power of actions these applications has: using our email and write/sign, delete, calling or sendingmessages using our phone, purchasing, downloading etc...we have not way to be protected. Not even the great people out there that truly wants to help us. I am extremelly tire, emotionally burned out, cant find a job to the point that I not longer apply. Reading articles related to politics, science, international news, philosophies etc....sometimes is not possible....its happening.
