I use an email address "fred@group.net" that is forwarded to my "fred@gmail.com" address. Incoming messages work without problems. I have tried, without success, to use identities so that outgoing messages show the From information as "fred <fred@group.net>" as I do not want my recipients to see the gmail address. Use of Reply To doesn't help as From still shows the gmail address. Any suggestions? Many thanks

set up an SMTP server that uses the server for group.net and use it in the identity..

Thanks for your reply Matt. group.net is just a domain name that I use as a forwarding service for email so that a change of email 'host' does not necessitate a change of email address for all my contacts. As such, and as I understand it, there is no SMTP server associated with it.
