I have been having this problem for some time now. Whenever I press an, email contact link on any site, Firefox immediately opens hundreds of tabs very quickly and will not stop until I close the program (Mozilla Firefox that is). When I reopen it starts to add more tabs. Sometimes pressing Esc stops it and then I have to delete all the, literally hundreds, of tabs. Any help would be most appreciated as this is a pain.

See Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link

You should never choose the Firefox program if you get an Open with download dialog.
You need to remove that action.
