Old word use to let me access clipboard, so if I goofed, could retrieve an old keep. Does Firefox have such access to the clipboard

I would have to say yes as I just copied your problem to MS Word (XP version). I then copied a random set of characters from the Word program to here. I used the clipboard to make all of the copy/paste movements.

Make sure that you do not close Firefox before pasting that data from the clipboard in a Word document. Current Firefox versions clear the clipboard if you close Firefox.

The Windows clipboard service doesn't keep old copies. You can "paste" multiple times, but once you "copy" something else the old clipboard data is gone. Older versions of the Windows Operating System did have an optional program you could install, called ClipTrack, which would store multiple clipboard entries, but IIRC that was with Win95/98/SE/ME versions - none of the NT versions ever came with that optional program.
There are also some utility programs that provide a feature like that. I use one called ClipTrakker to store the last 25 clipboard entries.

cor-el, I beg to differ with you. I'm using FF 3.6.12 and I've been able to paste from the clipboard even after closing FF.
