I just upgraded to Firefox 4. The problem with App Tabs initially was that they were too narrow, thinner than a dime with no icons showing. That appears to have been fixed by disabling the Tab Mix Plus extension. The App Tabs then appeared at the correct size but no icon shows up. Every App Tab appears as just a plain, white square. Any solutions to this?

Did you ever use code in userChrome.css to make modifications?

--- Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

By golly, I think you've got it. Changing to the default theme seems to have restored the tab icons. Tab Mix Plus needs to be disabled for it to work.

Did you try to set a higher minimum width for the tabs in TMP ?

There are also dev (beta) versions of TMP and you can always ask advice on the TMP forum.

I did. The main tabs respond to that but the app tabs don't.
