How do I delete an app tab when unpin doesn't work?

Quite unexpectedly everytime I close out a session, an icon for an app tab for a news website remains on the firefox tab bar. I have right clicked the icon and clicked unpin app, and all that happens is the whole name of the website shows on the toolbar and there is no way to close the site and end it since there is no "x" on it to end the session on that website. I checked app tab info available on firefox and there is nothing in the questions available that answers this question, I have read them all that were offered on the topic of app tabs.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

I appreciate your suggestion, and have gone into the provided support information, and read, and found the folder noted, but I would not know how to recreate sessionstore.js and so I don't want to delete it since clearly it is a function that is useful. I am baffled that firefox would have a way that someone would just pin an app tab in my computer without my knowledge or consent. This is a website that I visited once and liked, but I don't like it being stuck in my computer without my consent. I'd just like to get rid of it but not mess with the fundamental functions of the fire fox tab app system.

Firefox will automatically create a few file sessionstore.js if you remove the current file.
Firefox creates that file every 10 seconds to store the current session data.

Is the date (and time) of that file current and is there only one file sessionstore.js present?

thanks Cor-El. I get it now. I will give it a try.

THis did not work for me...unpinned and closed app, deleted all sessionstorejs files, but the pinned app still comes back.

Session restore plugin can restore a session without the pinned app...going to try disabling some plugins temporarily...the app that is stuck is the window for the zotero plugin...maybe if I disable the plugin the tab will go away.

turns out it was a feature not a bug...when zotero is set to load in a full window it loads as an app tab in all windows. setting it to open at the bottom of the browser window unpins it.
