Firefox 5 is apparently incompatible with F-Secure anti-virus; F-Secure repeatedly pops up "Changed Application" messages; How do I restore my previous version of Firefox?

more options

I just installed Firefox 5. Unfortunately, F-Secure's "Application Control" now repeatedly pops up "Changed Application" messages in an endless string. It will not accept my attempts to "Allow" the new version of Firefox. Since Firefox 5 is not compatible with F-Secure, I must return to my previous version of Firefox. I am very disappointed that you have put me to all this trouble. How do I delete Firefox 5 and return to the previous version of Firefox?

I have F-Secure and today updated Firefox from 4.0.1 to 5.0, and then got this same problem with an endless string of messages from F-Secure. For me, the Firefox update was not a good thing. I removed the updated Firefox 5 from my computer (XP), and run Regedit, searched for the key Firefox and removed most items. Then I installed Firefox 5, and no more F-Secure messages are seen. Everything ok.

I don't know F-Secure, but can you go in and obliterate its memory of Firefox 4 so it thinks Firefox 5 is a new application? Perhaps then it won't get so agitated.

"F-Secure repeatedly pops up Changed Application" So how is this Firefox's fault? Shouldn't you write to F-Secure so they fix that?

i had this problem, too when i updated firefox 3 to 4. but then after a few days it has worked. maybe it was an update from f-secure, don't know. I hope there will be a new update

^ That is nice of F-Secure to fix their stuff for Firefox 5 (which was released on 06-21) in early August, after Firefox 6 is released and just weeks before Firefox 7 is released.

Try closing Firefox, updating from inside the F-Secure product, then restarting Firefox. Does that work?
