I did as you suggested, although after I clicked "manage Search Engines" there was no Show search suggestions to be clicked on that Window. If I then clicked on Search there was an option to select "Suggest searches as type" and "Automatically search when you select from the drop down list". Both of these options were already selected so it's still not working. This first happened in Firefox 4. it's still has not been resolved.

I am afraid this is also already selected and does work for forms etc but NOT when selecting suggestions from the search box

By the way, it does work if you select the one you want by using the down arrow key

That sounds like a problem with the Search bar on the Google Toolbar. Is that what you are referring to?

It must be although the search bar is not positioned near or along side the Google toolbar
