About 2 days ago, all Youtube videos from the site and embedded ones stopped loading. I would just get a black screen on Youtube.com and a white space on an embedded video. I have not touched any Firefox settings.

I have all the latest plugins including Adobe Flash Player etc. All videos are functioning properly on IE 9 with default plugins and settings.

Chosen solution

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extension) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You need a different version of Flash plugin for Firefox than for IE. You can get that here (better than the link in the Flash information page):

Ah yes, it appeared to be a blocking rule in AdBlock Plus which looked not to be Youtube related. Anyway, problem solved!
