I checked the troubleshooting page and I only have one default firefox folder on my hard disk....does this mean all my old history and bookmarks are gone forever? :-(

Did you uninstall Firefox and ticked the box to remove your personal data ?

If you did then your bookmarks and other profile data are gone.

An undelete utility like Recuva might be able to bring that lost data back.
