I use http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/ to check my line speed. Until a recent firefox upgrade to 17.0.1 it worked fine. Now it just loads the background without the important bit

Installed Chrome and the speed check is fine

The website uses a flash animation to check your internet speed. It is possible that FF disabled your flash plug-in, as it was an old version with security risks.

Go to your tools -> add-ons and click plug-ins on the left side. you will find there if your flash plugin has been disabled or not. If so, just go to https://www.mozilla.org/nl/plugincheck/ and update it from there. Hope this works!
