from homepage, I can access a bookmarked site...but when I try to switch from that site (any bookmarked site) to my Hotmail bookmarked site (which is my homepage site), it always "times out" and doesn't complete the connection back...this did not used to be a problem. Restoring my computer to a previous time when it still functioned as desired, does not solve the problem, either...

Try to navigate to that bookmarked Hotmail site via the main login page (live.login.com) instead of using a bookmark because the bookmark may be broken or includes sending POST data that isn't working.
