i get a message that downloading firefox can do damage to my comuter. Is this true?

When I try to download firefox, a message box comes up & says This program can do harm to my computer. Can this download really harm my computer & what harm does it do?

Windows probably gave you that message. Firefox and the Mozilla brand name are reputable names and wouldn't do any damage to your computer unless you downloaded from another place other than mozilla.org.
