Hello,

I recently installed Vuze which changed my Firefox address bar search engine to Yahoo. I've been trying to change it back to Google which I prefer, but it keeps defaulting to Yahoo.

I have tried 1. Deleting all other search engines from the drop down arrow in the search window 2. Doing the recommended about:config > keyword.URL > put in the URL you want to use as your default method but it only works temporarily, like about once or twice, then it defaults back to Yahoo

Any ideas? Greg

Bug #738818 removed keyword.URL to consolidate Firefox search preferences, as of Firefox 23. The search engine which is selected in the Search Bar is used in the Location Bar [and other search boxes in the UI]. Unless you have something installed that overrides default prefs.

Install this extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ - to reset your search preferences and homepage to their default values, and then it uninstalls itself.

If those settings don't hold after using SearchReset, you may have Malware or PUP [potentially unwanted programs] on your PC.
