Since the latest update (31.6.0) I can't get my mails (imap server)

I had an update for Thunderbird today (31.6.0) and since then I can't retrieve my e-mails (imap server). I have other device on the same network, but using other mail clients, and there I can retrieve the mails. So I can only be Thunderbird... I do get an error message in the end ("server timeout") which can't be right as the other devices on the same network do get the messages.

If you updated Thunderbird then it is possible that your firewall may not be recognising the updated verion.

Example: I use Norton Anti-Virus/Firewall. Sometimes, after an update, Norton still thinks it can allow only the previous version. I then have to close Thunderbird and access Norton. Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Program Rules Locate Thunderbird and set to 'Allow' On one occassion, I have had to block, ok and then reset to Allow.

If you use another Firewall/Anti-virus program, then there will be similar settings. So check this first.

Thanks for replying. I checked and saw no entry in my firewall settings for a previous version of Thunderbird. But just to be sure, I've added a rule now. Unfortunately it didn't help... I even tried to completely disabling the firewall and still nothing... So I guess the firewall is not the problem. Thanks for trying to help !
