firefox downloads .mdb but associates them to html so I can't open/see it

When I download a .mdb file using firefox on win 8, it sets the file association to be html which means I can't see the file when I try and open it.

I have tried setting the file association to msaccess but it doesn't make any difference, If I use IE it works.

It seems very similar to the issue you have/had with pdf's downloading as html files.

Please can you help?

I am on Windows 8.1

1) if you tried to change by First selecting the file and right clicking the file and selecting properties at the bottom and change the file association to that file. 2) if that does not work open your program (is it Microsoft Access) and at the right top under File is Open file and trying that rout.

I just grabbed a text file to show how to change file associations of the program used to open file.

Thanks for the reply, I know how to change the file extention but I shouldn't have to change the file type every time I download a file.

If you download a file from a web server it sets the ext to be .htm.

It is definitely not the file type on the server as we have other tablets doing the same thing with IE without issue.
