My win 10 PC got real squirrely fixed by "resetting" it

I had to reinstall Thunderbird and now I need to make Thunderbird use the old profile that did (apparently) get saved (C:\Windows.old\Users\dave\AppData below).

In researching the forum I found "Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer" on the subject in general but I didn't think any of them really talked to a similar situation.

I have identified both sets of "profile" information and hope that someone can point me in the correct direction.

Thanks Dave

1. Create a new profile in Thunderbird

2. Start Thunderbird using that new profile. Click cancel on things, don't set anything up.

3. Find & open that Thunderbird Profile folder:

Select Help: Troubleshooting Information from the Thunderbird menu (either from the menu button , on the top right, or the normal menu at the top of the window.)

Under "Application Basics", beside "Profile Folder", click the "Show Profile" button.  This will open a window showing the contents of your Thunderbird Profile folder.

4. Quit Thunderbird, but keep that window open showing your Thunderbird Profile folder.

5. Delete all the contents of that profile folder.

6. Copy (not move), then entire contents of "C:\Windows.old\Users\dave\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\7tdrdih1.default" to this location.

7. Start Thunderbird using this new profile. Everything in Thunderbird should be as it was before you reset Windows 10.

What you do now is up to you. You can just use this profile from now on, or move stuff from this profile to the other one, or visa versa. This webpage will help you for transferring stuff from one profile to another.
