How do I prioritise results from my loacality. Currently US sites cet priority and I'm Canadain

more options

When I search in Firefox most of the results that come top of the list are US sites. Even if I put "Canada" and "Ontario" in the search it is still US sites that form most of the top results. I want Canadian sites, Canadian providers to come in above US and the rest of the world. Because Canada and the US share so many retails and service providers it is so frustrating to get a result only to find it is a US store/provider and won't deal with a Canadian (or charge a great deal more to do so).

There are settings on the Advanced Google search page.

You can also check the Mycroft Project website for a suitable search engine.

If you are using DuckDuckGo, check for a line of controls above your search results that starts with "All Regions". Changing that to Canada may help. (Screenshot attached.)

Thanks for the try, yes I do use Ducks but the region is already set to "Canada" and it doesn't help!

Cor-el, thanks for the tip. I'm not a great fan of Google but if it works it might be a way out of my frustrations. I'll check out Mycroft Project website first though.

First, I suggest sending a message to DDG to see whether they have any solution.

Second, you can always narrow a search to .ca domains, but of course you'll miss out Canadian sites using .com/.org/etc. domains. Here's how if you want to try it, add this to your query (make sure it's separated by a space from the rest of your query):

site:.ca
