I have a mac. I use Firefox. I have a Google window open. When I search for something and hit go or return an "incognito" window comes up. I want it to stay in Google. I've deleted cookies, and have deleted "incognito". But no matter what I've done I get this "incognito" window. Help!!! Thanks!!

Most likely an unwanted extension crept in. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions listed here are optional. If in doubt, disable -- be especially skeptical of anything that mentions search and which you do not use in a regular basis or do not remember installing.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

If you can identify the culprit, feel free to "name names"!
