When I try to search my send messages for an email with certain content I get no results. i.e. In the "Send" folder I have a message containing a word "invoice". When I try tu quickfilter or search for it there are no results.

When I have a reply to that e-mail in the received folder the search includes it in the results.

(I tried deleting the file "global-messages-db.sqlite")

I've found the answer. My "send" folder wasn't available offline and this excluded it from the search.

If this is an IMAP account, you must check 'Run search on server' in the Search Messages... window that is available from the folder right-click menu.
