I use a Mac. I would like to sort my bookmarks folders. I have tried using every solution to do so that I could find. They do not stay sorted. IT LOOKS GREAT UNTIL THE WINDOW IS CLOSED, THE NEXT TIME THAT I USE THE BOOKMARK FOLDER THE BOOKMARKS WITHIN ARE UNSORTED. This is a recent problem, only recent bookmarks are unsortable. Most, but not all, of my older bookmarks remain sorted.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

No, and I tried to refreshing Firefox which did not work either.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86). Do the Mac Equivalent. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

Note that the Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) is meant for viewing purposes and doesn't sort the bookmarks permanently if that is what you currently use. You can need to use "Sort By Name" that is enabled when you right-click a folder in the Library.
