twitch.tv livestream picture-in-picture button non-responsive sometimes

more options

Watching twitch live streams video/audio works fine.

But sometimes the picture-in-picture button that shows up on the left side of the video is not responsive to clicking. Most of the time it doesn't appear at all. When it appears and is clickable, pip works fine.

MacOS FIrefox latest rev (77.0.1).

If it doesn't appear, do you have PiP in the right-click context menu enabled and can you enter PiP mode that way ?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I have noticed a useable work-around. on twitch.tv live stream if the chat menu is open on the left side, then this problem occurs consistently. if the chat menu is "closed" with the |-> icon and is no longer visible, then the PiP appears and works fine.
