I use Thunderbird with my Outlook Office 365 work account. I emptied the trash with an email that I wish I hadn't deleted. In Outlook Online, the email still appears in a "Recoverable" list of the Deleted Items folder. I restored the email in Outlook and it reappears in my Inbox in Outlook Online, but does not appear in my Inbox in Thunderbird, even after clicking "Get Messages". Then when compacting the Thunderbird Inbox, the email will get removed from Outlook Online's Inbox and moved back to the Recoverable list. It's like Thunderbird is remembering that I permanently deleted the email and keeps re-deleting it. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Compacting physically removes deleted messages (which are normally just marked deleted and hidden from view). Stop doing that until this problem is solved.

Try going to the accounts server settings in Thunderbird and temporarily changing "when I delete a message" from "move it to trash" to "just mark it as deleted". That will usually display in the folder listing any deleted messages with a line drawn through them. If you delete the deleted message again, it becomes undeleted.
