Certain unicode symbols appearing as a crossed out rectangle
I've searched and found problems similar to mine yet different, mine is specifically certain symbols appearing as crossed out rectangles; and when copy pasted here, they appear as so [ ᅠᅠ ]
I've already verified that 'gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled' has been set to true, and made sure that 'Allow pages to choose their own fonts' has been checked.
I've also tried disabling and enabling the Extensions I have installed, and they had no effect on the issue.
Booting Firefox in Safe Mode also has this issue, whereas Chrome does not. Therefore, I'm wondering if this is a Firefox issue that can be fixed or not.

You can check for issues with (corrupted) fonts. It looks that Firefox is using a so called last resort font where all glyphs are the same.
You can right-click and select "Inspect" to open the built-in Inspector with this element selected.
You can check in the Rules tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font-family is used for selected text. You can check in the Fonts tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font is actually used because Firefox might be using a different font than specified by the website.
On Firefox it displays the Font as Segoe UI Symbol, whereas on Chrome it either displays the 'true name' or something irrelevant in the same spot. I tried installing / reinstalling the Segoe UI Symbol font, however with no change.
I ought to say I've seen this issue before on an old phone I had, certain symbols just appeared like this, whereas a newer phone I got later didn't have that problem, not sure if that's relevant or not.
Make sure you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Settings -> General -> Language and Appearance -> Fonts -> Advanced
[X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above"
If you use uBlock Origin make sure not to "block remote fonts".
Not to be disrespectful, but that is nearly the first thing I said I already did...
