Whenever I try to print Web pages to a file, I get a prompt to enter an output file name, but when I click OK I get an error message that the file can't be found.

I assumed that Firefox would create the file, but it doesn't. So, do I have to print to an existing file?

I have never been able to figure out how to get that "Print to File" to work, but I haven't really spent much time researching it or trying to get it to work. AFAICT, Firefox isn't directly involved in the process, it happens at the OS level. It looks like it creates a raw .prn file for a specific printer to use at a later time, through command line instructions or code. I vaguely recall doing that in the old DOS days before Windows came out, like over 20 years ago. In those days, the PrntScrn button actually sent what was on the screen to the printer, instead of to the Clipboard as is done today.

See this "Print to File" Google search to see if you can find an article to help you figure it out.

According to this page - http://www.mrkent.com/forms/tools/prntofile.htm - it doesn't work when you have USB connected printer.
