Greetings.

Basically what the title says, is there a "other devices" tab I'm missing somewhere? I've used Google to no avail, and I can easily sync tabs from my desktop to my Android, but there doesn't seem a way to do the reverse.

Thanks.

Sound like your Android and desktop PC are already sync'ing correctly, right?

In that case, yes, you're right, there isn't yet an obvious way to collect tabs from other computers in desktop Firefox! But there is a solution -- open a new tab and go to "about:sync-tabs" (without the quotes). This "Tabs From Other Computers" page should show the tabs on all your other computers/devices.

What I do with mine is right-click on the tab and select "Pin as App Tab", so that the tab is always easily accessible. If you don't like that, you can easily un-pin it again by right-clicking and selecting "Unpin Tab".

One other thing to remember is that when you first start Firefox, "Tabs From Other Computers" will be blank until the first sync has completed. So that can take a few moments.

Hope that helps!

While the solution provided by MatthewBabbs sounds logical, it does not work.

Shouldn't the tabs on my Device be available on my desktop after a few days? Would the first sync take that long? Irrespective of how many days have passed since I first setup sync, the "Tabs from Other Computers" tab stays blank.

I have setup Firefox on my Desktop to delete my web-history every time the browser closes. I also use CCleaner to delete my browsing history every day. I have, however, excluded "Saved Passwords" and "Site Preferences" for Firefox from the CCleaner deletion to preserve the Firefox Sync settings. Does this have anything to do with my sync not working?

How can I solve this? Please help.

Regards, KH

Hi kjholla, sorry your Android Firefox tabs haven't been appearing! I've done some searching today to find out what could be causing this. It turns out that this part of Sync didn't get into Android Firefox until Firefox 18.

Android Firefox 17 and earlier show tabs from your other Firefoxes, but doesn't "push" its' own tabs up to the Sync server. So your other Firefoxes can't see these in "about:sync-tabs" page (although usually, they'd appear in History).

Firefox 18 is currently "Firefox Beta" on the Android store, so you may want to try installing that. (At least until Firefox 18 is released as the "regular" version of Firefox in a few weeks.) I've tried this out today and its tabs definitely do appear in Firefox on my other devices!

Firefox Beta installs alongside the regular Firefox and uses the same Sync account. You'll have to manually turn this on though:

  1. In Firefox Beta, go to Settings -> Sync from the menu
  2. In the list of Sync accounts, go to your Firefox Sync.
  3. You'll see checkboxes for both "Firefox" and "Firefox Beta". Make sure the Firefox Beta one is checked.
  4. Visit some websites in your Firefix Beta tabs. Quite soon, you should see the "Synced Tabs" section in Firefox Beta, and your Firefox Beta tabs should appear in the "about:sync-tabs" page.

Hope that helps!

@MatthewBabbs - you nailed it this time!

Yes, installing Firefox Beta on my Android does fix the problem. I can now see the tabs from my Android on my Desktop.

Thanks much!
