Contacts are missing in address book.

I installed Thunderbird in my notebook and saved contacts in the address book. Then I installed it on my desktop as well. I am able to retrieve the emails on the desktop but all the contacts are missing in the address book. How can I retrieve the contacts?

Unless you synchronize contacts with a service like gmail or outlook.com, address books are available only on the computer on which TB is installed.

But if you want to have the same address books on multiple computers, copy abook.mab and history.mab from your notebook to your desktop.

I too lost all of my contacts and I use gmail. I thought the contacts were all stored on my computer as part of Thunderbird and also with gmail. I definitely did not delete them intentionally and wonder what might have caused this. Does anyone know where they might be stored and be recovered? The only known issue I'm having is a 30GB C drive which is full. Thanks.
