I want to automatically send copies of all incoming email in my Thunderbird email to an additional account in gmail. Right now I have a filter set up to do this by forwarding the incoming email to the additional address. However, these email all show up as being sent from the Thunderbird account so I can't see the original sender in gmail without actually opening the email. I would like to just "send" a copy so the original sender shows up on my gmail account.

You could change your filter to copy to the gmail account, if it is set up in TB. Or, in gmail Settings/Accounts & Import, add the other account under 'Check mail from other accounts'.
