Downloading documents from sites creates numerous new tabs one after another and doesn't stop adding tabs until I close Firefox?

I updated Firefox (to 76.0 64bit) to see if that would fix it, also rebooted my computer as well. Still did the same thing.

You get tabs opening endlessly if you select Firefox as the application to handle a file when you get an "Open with" dialog.

Is there a particular website you are having issues with? If it's a specific website, it would helpful if you could provide a link to the website(s). Even if it isn't a specific website issue, it would be beneficial to provide a link to at least one website where you experience the issue.

Thank you! I had selected when opening PDF files in Firefox to "Always use" when opening these files. I changed it according to recommendations at the link provided and went back and check it on both websites that I encountered the problem (downloading .pdf statements). Much appreciated.
