Explore add-ons ad on new tab page
When I launch FF after rebooting an annoying ad pops up on the new page tab, the contents are:
'Get the inside scoop
See the add-ons our staff use to make browsing faster, safer, or just plain fun!'
It pops up just under the puzzle piece icon next to the address bar.
Is there a way to block it?

Have you disabled "Recommend extensions as you browse" and "Recommend features as you browse" in settings?

Why does it need to take the keyboard focus and consider space being pressed as someone wanting to open a new tab of the extensions store, so annoying when you're trying to quickly open a tab and do something and are expecting your keyboard input not to be hijacked by an internal advert popping on top of what you're doing at a pseudo random time.
Like you stamping on the brake pedal controls in your car because a moose just wandered out in front of your nose and then Clippy pops up and says 'Hey! I see you're trying to brake urgently, have you considered the ABS add-on?'. Ugh
This was also frustrating to find details about on the internet again, when there could have been some link in the popup or wording that explains what the feature is called and how to turn it back off again (because again you don't find it a net benefit to your internet browsing and are again finding yourself fighting your internet browser). For so long I was just finding the extension store page on my screen when I thought I was typing a search query and took some time before I even caught a glimpse of the helpful little square dangling off the extensions button (that I never wanted welded to the interface either). Actually the first time I've seen the position of the new mandatory UI element do anything come to think of it.
