I cannot connect to googleuk through firefox! WHY?!

If I type Google into my yahoo search bar, and click on resulting link, I get 404 not found! Google maps on websites don't display. If i click on links provided by google on other websites, I get 404 not found! It has been driving me nuts, and I have tried all sorts of thing to access Google.uk to no avail. And now, tonight, horror of horrors, I find I CAN access googleuk, throught INTERNET EXPLORER! PLEASE, help me! I love Mozilla Firefox, I don't want to go back to IE! WHY is this happening? I think it's been since early May.

Yes, I know that, which is why I can get it on IE. I have used Mozilla for about 3 years now, and have never had this problem before. Unfortunately ir has been making my work life difficult at times, which is why I will have to go over to IE if I can't find a solution.
