Why are you doing this? If there is a problem with Firefox, please pause and describe it in more detail as there may be a better solution.

Sometimes the Windows Installer stops working if it has accumulated too many deferred changes. To resolve that issue, you usually need to shut down and restart Windows.

If Firefox's uninstaller still doesn't work after that, you may need to refresh Firefox's program folder with a clean reinstall. Here are the steps:

(1) Download a full installer for Firefox 32 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to a convenient location. (Scroll down to your preferred language.)

(2) Rename the Mozilla Firefox program folder

64-bit Windows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

32-bit Windows:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files\OldFirefox

(3) Run the installer you downloaded in #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

Then you can try the uninstaller.

Note: Some plugins may exist only in that OldFirefox folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:

  • OldFirefox\Plugins
  • OldFirefox\browser\plugins
