Many (but not all) of my recent e-mails appear as HTML - very much as if viewed using View > Message Source. Some e-mails are OK, some are completely blank. This happened today, after a Windows update & a Norton scan (I don't know if either impacted this issue), but just before the Thunderbird update to v 31.2.0. Some of the e-mail that appears as HTML were read earlier and appeared OK. I am mostly interested in preventing this from happening again, but would also like to know if I can convert the funny-looking code to text. I can read the impacted e-mails, but it is a pain. Win 7, 64 bit.

My personal view is the cause is Norton. God help you if they actually find anything in your inbox or other mail folders. They delete the entire folder. My recommendation is to not allow Norton scans of the Thunderbird profile folder.

Right click the folder in question select properties and then the repair button.
