Where can I find documentation on how to create message filters for *all* of the things that can be tested? The examples only use From, Body, or Subject. I need to be able to test Content-Transfer-Encoding.

Almost all emails that I get which have base64 encoded stuff is spam. How can I filter on:

Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="Proposal.pdf"

JVBERi0xLjMNJeLjz9MNCjkgMCBvYmoNPDwvTGluZWFyaXplZCAxL0wgNjk4Ni9PIDExL0UgMzA1 Ni9OIDEvVCA2NjkyL0ggWyA0NDggMTQ2XT4+DWVuZG9iag0gICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAgICAg ...

I've tried selecting 'Content-Transfer-Encoding' with value 'base64' but that does not work.

I've just tried: Content-Transfer-Encoding contains quoted-printable This only returned 2 items, which is way less than expected result.

added Body contains quoted-printed and changed to match any of the following This returned a greater number but not all.

based on these findings: Content-Transfer-Encoding contains base64 I think would test the first copy of that header, rather than the ones in the different MIME sections.

Body contains Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 would capture more .

However, i use the Thunderbird Junk Control Settings to capture junk, so do not really get the issue you are trying to filter on. Have you set up and trained your Junk filter to auto move those emails to Junk. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls

I think you are using Filtaquilla.

If you select more on that addon there is a link to his homepage. You find most of what you want there or in his links.

Not so. The only addons I have are CompactHeader, Deselect on Delete, IcedTea-Web, Shockwave Flash, and an Aussie dictionary.

I will check out Filtaquilla.

Try this: Tools > Message Filters click on 'New'

Enter filter name etc. Click on 'Subject' to see drop down selection. At the bottom , select: 'Customise' Type: Content-Transfer-Encoding click on 'Add' click on OK

This should add the 'Content-Transfer-Encoding' option in the drop down selection.

Thanks, but I do have it in the drop down selection menu. I select it, and use 'base64' (without quotes) for the value. It has no effect. The message containing it is not filtered. It seems that the filter code does not see metadata in the body. It should.
