Hello to all,

No, this is not a re-post of the previous topics covering a similar issue. I've read them and they do not apply.

Here's my issue :

-Firefox will not remember the "Save to disk" option. I have a very large number of .RAR files to download and it just will not work, increasing my workload.

I've re-installed windows, I've created new profiles for Firefox, none of it works. When I first want to download a .RAR file, the option to "Save to disk" is available but the "Remember my choice" button is greyed out.

I've had to get a mimeTypes.RDF file from someone who forced the "Remember my choice" for the .RAR files but I still get the prompt to "Save file as" with every download. And I have about 1700 RAR files to download.

The only thing that I've tried and it works is : Get Firefox 20-ish, install it, get to the same site, download a .RAR file, select the "Save to disk" and "Remember my choice" options and then copy the mimyeTypes.RDF file to the current Firefox install.

What I am expecting is that when I go to the download site and I click on download, I want it to start downloading immediately. I have a download location specified so further prompts for a location are not needed.

1st picture shows my current mimeTypes.RDF and 2nd picture show the action performed by the browser.

Please let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks!

Nevermind, I'm an idiot.

I had the "Always ask me where to save downloads" option ticket in the "General tab". Works fine now.

All that work for nothing.... Topic can be closed.
