I used the refresh option to speed up Firefox and now cannot get it to save my passwords. Every time I log in to Gmail, Firefox asks me if I want it to save the password and I say yes, but it won't. I use MAC OS High Sierra on a MAC desktop and Firefox 57.0.3.

Do you currently see any passwords in the Password Manager?

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

You can try to copy the logins.json and key3.db files from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to the current profile folder to recover your previous passwords

You can try to rename/remove logins.json and key3.db in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case there is a problem of the files. Keep a backup copy just in case.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

I actually did neither of the two suggested replies. I restarted my "MAC" and it seems to have cleared up. I had to re-install my add-ons (which I expected). I did however have a difficult time logging in to Mozilla support to try and post this reply! I will NEVER refresh or do anything they suggest EVER again.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
