Trying to access my cameras on DYN.COM but Firefox is not allowing connection. Security says "This website does not supply ownership information."

Already had no proxy set. The odd thing is that I now rebooted the PC and tried it again and now it is allowing it through. Will see if it happens again.

Thanks for your time!

I had no problem with the website. Did you get any other messages?

The problem is not with Dyn.com, it is with my camera DNS names supplied by Dyn.com. i.e. my camera dns access name is crosstraxgib1.from-ca.com:xxxx

Don't worry about the message that a site doesn't supply ownership information. Firefox always says that unless a site purchased an EVSSL certificate.

I don't know why Firefox wouldn't be able to get an address for personaldomain.from-ca.com but other browsers can. Unless you configured the proxy settings or use a VPN extension, Firefox should just send DNS queries to Windows for resolution.

You can check Firefox's settings here:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Settings" button, which you can click.

The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. You may want to try "No proxy".

Any difference?
