Firefox window restores (unmaximizes) when switching tabs via Windows preview
Every time I switch Firefox tabs by clicking on them above the taskbar in the Windows preview, Firefox window auto-restores (i.e. unmaximizes itself) forcing me to maximize it again to make it usable. Needless to say having yo hit Win + Arrow Up every time I switch tabs this way is bothersome.
What exactly makes Firefox behave this way and is it possible to make switching tabs via preview work normally?

I'm not 100% sure if that behavior was changed. Unfortunately I've lost access to my Windows machine to test this for you but will ask my colleagues. If you remember the windows not needing to be re-maximized between preview switches then it could be a regression. We just need to track down when that might have happened & we can file a bug to see if it can be fixed. :)
One way to test this is to temporarily downgrade to Firefox 60 & perhaps even 59 to see if the behavior you desire is present there. Report back with your findings after testing with these builds, thanks! When I click once on a browser window preview pop-up (above the Task Bar), it brings up the window in its current state, whether it's maxed or un-maxed.
Something to try. When a browser window is 'Un-Maxed' in its original size, manually max the browser window to full size by click-n-hold on one corner of the browser window and drag it to how you want the full size. You can also move the window around also.
Windows will 'remember' which windows has were manually-sized and which ones were left at max.

Thank you for your reply.
The tab switching via Windows preview worked fine in Firefox 60 and 59. It still works if I install one of these browser versions.
Moreover, switching works as intended in Firefox 61 on my home desktop, which has the same operating system (Windows 7 Professional) as my work laptop. That's why I figure it is a browser configuration issue rather than a bug.

I have been using this workaround for some time. The problem is I still need to resize it manually whenever I want two pages open on the same screen side by side.

I just tried a half-sized browser window and it pops-up maintaining its 'half-size'.
