How do I restore website login information from Sync? I had to delete my cookies to troubleshoot a problem with one of my other sites.

I have a private email account that does not store the password, so I can't retrieve it in case of a loss. However, I had to try to troubleshoot a login problem on another site, so I tried deleting all my cookies and site data. Unfortuntately, that wiped out my ability to access that email, and that email service said it absolutely can't help me since it can't see the password.

I'm wondering if, with Sync, I can somehow access a backed-up copy of those cookies, even just to look at their contents, to see if I can find my password in it for my email(?)

This depends on several things. Are you talking about a Firefox profile somewhere else? Is it an old, not in use, profile?

No. Sync doesn't store any backups at all. And as soon as cookies (or any other data) is deleted in Firefox, that change is sent to the Sync server, almost in real time.

Also, there is no way for a user can view there data that is on the Sync server; the security for Sync is set up so that no one can read any Sync data from anywhere except for the Firefox installation which are connected to the Sync account. The Sync data leaves Firefox encrypted and returns encrypted from the Sync server - only thru a logged in version of Firefox.

Cookies aren't saved as part of Sync.

You can check if there are backup copies of cookies.sqlite available.

You can look at this utility to browse System Restore points and possibly restore an older copy of cookies.sqlite.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
