Win7 64 bit on Intel Core i7 970 Thunderbird runs fine until/unless I compact a folder. Then it consumes CPU cycles until I restart Thunderbird. I saw the other thread about high CPU usage and wanted to attach this info to it but it seems I have to start a new thread.

Same here with 60.8.0 under Linux. It doesn't matter whether Global Search and Indexing is on or not, or what mail.db.idle.limit is set to. TB just consumes a 1/2 to a whole CPU, constantly. Restarting TB doesn't help. Lots of threads on this with no progress. Pretty horrible (bloatware). It could've started when I succumbed to the nagging to compact a folder. TB just start behaving like this.

It's just an email program for F*cks sake! It doesn't need to be so complicated that not even the devs can wraps their head around all bloated complexity. If I click a button, then do something. Otherwise do nothing. Pretty simple.

Dev Tools->Performance graphs show a lot of seemingly useless activity that I can't decipher. CG Graph Reduction, Set Interval, Cycle Collection, Set Timeout, etc. over and over...
