The thumbnails on the home page look just fine, but the smaller ones of suggested videos when I watch something suddenly look so blurry and pixelated. I tried turning off my one extension Ublock Origin, clearing the cache and restarting the browser but had no luck. Somehow the thumbnails look fine when I watch the same video in a private window.

You may have accidentally zoomed webpage(s). Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View -> Zoom -> Reset (Ctrl+0/Command+0 (zero))

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

Thank you cor-el for your reply, but the two solution didn't really solve my problem.

The two screenshots I attached to the question were both in 133% zoomed tabs because I watch youtube this way and has been for years without getting pixelated thumbnails. When I reset the zoom back to 100%, the images are still pixelated and uglier than the 133% zoomed ones in private tabs. The differences were less obvious, but it is still not the quality I experienced for years before.

The "Forget about this site" option, well, this is where it gets a little weird. Originally, I had two Youtube accounts linked to 2 gmails (lets call them A and B), and was mainly using A before and when the problem arose. When I clicked the "Forget about this site" option for Youtube, Firefox stopped responding for a long time so I just closed the window and restart Firefox. I revisited Youtube and somehow I got logged on to the B account, and the thumbnails were good again. But when I switched back to the A account, the pixelated thumbnails appeared again???? At 133% zoom, the difference were irritating, and just the same as the 2 screenshots of normal and private tabs comparison, but this time they're both on normal tabs and switching accounts back and forth solves and recreates the problem.
