When you type 'm' in the search/address bar, the very first result autocompletes to mail.google.com, so that all you have to do is type 'm' and then hit enter and you're sent to gmail. I've recently changed my primary email to a different email client. Is there a way to change what address autocompletes first? Will this change automatically after some amount of time? or are the google results built in as the first option always?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the Firefox Support Forum. I understand that you want to change the email address that autocompletes when you type 'm' in the search/address bar.

By default, Firefox uses a feature called Autofill to suggest URLs based on your browsing history. However, you can customize the autofill behavior and change the suggested email address.

Here's how you can do it:

Open Firefox and click on the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner. Select 'Options' (Windows) or 'Preferences' (Mac). In the options/preferences page, navigate to the 'Privacy & Security' tab. Scroll down to the 'Forms & Autofill' section. Click on 'Autofill Addresses' or 'Autofill' depending on your Firefox version. Look for the email address you want to change and click on the 'Edit' button next to it. Update the email address to your desired one and save the changes. Please note that the suggested URLs are based on your browsing history, so it may take some time for the new email address to replace the previous one. Clearing your browsing history may also help in refreshing the suggestions.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with any other Firefox-related issues, feel free to ask. We're here to help!

Thank you very much for your response. I'm afraid I still have an issue. When I follow these instructions and click on 'Saved Addresses' next to 'Autofill Addresses' in the Forms and Addresses section of Privacy and Security, it gives me the option to enter in a physical location address, not a URL. It seems like this setting is to auto-fill a physical address when filling out a form, such as for an item to be shipped to you. Is there another setting that I am missing to enter a URL address? Thank you again for your help, I very much appreciate it.

Of course google results are not built in as the first option, it should change eventually. Results from bookmarks and history are prioritized, so you could just go to menu ≡ -> History -> Manage history, right-click on an entry from mail.google.com and remove that domain from history. The same with all the bookmarks.
