Like probably a Lot of you I don't support the unethical So-called "Forced-obsolescence" and am not planning to "upgrade" Microsoft every 18 months or so for the next 90 years on each on Every single family Computer and give in to their Scare tactics for financial, environmental and Ethical reasons.

I am currently running Firefox "Extended Support," or ESR, I think it's called. Was wondering, If I ever **DO** decide to upgrade our bloatware Spyware operating system(s), basically if they break enough Apps like Apple Likes to do to force an upgrade, how difficult or easy would it be to Migrate from ESR to the latest regular version of Mozilla/Firefox...with all my Settings, etc. still in place?

Hi

Thank you for your question.

Possibly the easiest and safest way is to just install a copy of the mann Release version of Firefox and then (assuming you are already signed into Firefox Sync on ESR), sign into your Mozilla Account. This will then sync across your bookmarks and passwords.

Alternatively, there is nothing "wrong" with ESR and you will continue to get an annual upgrade where ESR catches up with the Release version of Firefox.

ESR is meant more for Enterprise users in mind as they like to have long term stability with allowed stability and security updates.

Firefox 128 ESR is based on the Firefox 128 Release but with stability/security fixes since.

The older Firefox 115 ESR is currently still being updated (last update Fx 115.21.0esr in March 2025 unless Mozilla extends updates again) to support the old eol Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 OS users in mind and are not meant for Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.15+ users as they will be served the current Release or Fx 128 ESR..
