In Firefox 13, the bookmark icon won't show up on the toolbar when I close the customize windows. I like my icons on the left (we DO read from left to right) and as soon as I close customize the other icons show up but the bookmark icon is hidden.

Do you have the menu bar visible?

You only see the Bookmarks Menu button if then menu bar is hidden.
If the Bookmarks Toolbar is visible then the button will appear at the right hand side of that toolbar unless you've moved it to another toolbar.

Yes, I have the menu var visible. I can't get the Bookmarks icon to move to another toolbar.

I have always had it on the navigation bar beside the home icon and I would like to keep it there.

I wish Firefox would quit changing stuff for no reason. Can anyone explain why Mozilla feels the need to change things so often?

The point is that you can use the Bookmarks menu on the Menu bar if that toolbar is displayed, so the Bookmarks Menu button is not needed in the menu is displayed.
If you hide the Menu bar via "View > Toolbars" then the Bookmarks Menu button that opens a drop down list will be displayed in the Bookmarks Toolbar if that toolbar is enabled and if not then it will appear on the Navigation Toolbar unless you've dragged it elsewhere.
There is another Bookmark toolbar button without a drop marker available in the toolbar palette of the Customize window to open the bookmarks in the sidebar.

Yes, I can use the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar but I've always used the icon on the navigation bar and don't know why they had to make that impossible.

The bookmarks menu button that is displayed on the bookmarks toolbar disappeared.

The bookmark toolbar button that appears in the customize window will NOT show up in the navigation toolbar if I have the menu toolbar enabled.

I really don't get the need for Firefox to constantly change stuff just for the sake of changing. It's annoying to have an update every time I turn around and every update causes Firefox to slow down if I don't make a new profile.

I'm seriously considering going to Chrome or Safari since Firefox can't seem to get things right without monthly new versions - which I might add usually screw up my addons.

I used to love Firefox - now it's just a pain in the butt.

Thanks for your reply - I appreciate it. None of my frustration is directed at you.

You need the star shaped Bookmarks button (there are two of them) without the drop marker to open the Bookmarks in the sidebar.
The one with the drop marker opens the drop down list with the bookmarks and that Bookmarks Menu button is only displayed if the menu bar is hidden.

On some of my bookmark Icon,s I have a blank square when I used to have a regular icon. I have tried all of the suggestions listed here with no luck. Can some one tell me how to fix this problem?

Firefox should retrieve and restore the favicon if you use such a bookmark that has the default icon, provided that there is one available.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
