Forums do not work properly with Firefox. On some forums, you log in only to be immediately logged out. This has happened with PhPBB3 forums. Other forums show you as being logged in, but when you try to post, the forum tells you that you must be logged in to post. Trying to log out and back in changes nothing.

I used to use Firefox long ago and thought I'd try it again, but this is not acceptable.

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

This can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked (check the permissions on the about:permissions page).

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

There is nothing wrong with the time and date. Are cookies blocked by default? Why would they be corrupt if this is a fresh install?

more options

No. All cookies are allowed by default.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies

If the cookies settings are correct then you can still try to remove the cookies.sqlite file(s) as a test. You can also try a New Private Window as that will give a a new set of cookies.

You can also check if DOM Storage is enabled.
