Hello

I seem to remember in a previous version of Firefox, it would remember where I downloaded files from specific websites and always direct new downloads there. Is there a way to get this function back? Like, if I downloaded an image from imgur, it would always direct me to a certain location, but an image from livememe would direct me to a different location to download.

thanks

Hello,

Can you please confirm if the feature you are looking for is to - provide a default download location for a specific site, instead of one download location for all the sites.

Is that what you are looking for?

Thank you

I believe this is still the default setting. Are you finding that Firefox no longer remembers site-specific last-download-folders, or that it remembers new ones but old ones seem to have been cleared?

To see whether this feature has been turned off, you'll need to take a peek into the about:config preferences editor.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste down and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If you find the browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite preference set to false, right-click it and choose Reset. It should either switch to true or blank out.

You can delete the content-prefs.sqlite file in the Profile Folder to remove site settings currently stored in this file.

You may also have had an extension that supported this feature and that is no longer working or may have been removed in case you reset Firefox or otherwise created a new profile.

@gnittala It's a default download location per site that I'm looking for. I don't think it was a setting I could enable, simply something I noticed happening.

@jscher2000 It's not remembering site specific download folders. I don't have "browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite" in my config, can I just add it?

@cor-el Wasn't an extension

And I think I found it, if I right click and select "Save target as", it goes right to the last place I saved something from that site. If i just click on a link, it gives me the "save or open" dialog box then it will ask me to save at the default folder or save right to downloads folder depending on the option.

Hi Prophaniti, you don't need to add the preference, it is true by default.

I wonder whether you've discovered a new or changed behavior? It seem that even if a download is "pushed" to you by clicking a link, it still should be subject to the site-specific folder behavior.

All,

I tried the browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite setting to see if I am prompted to save for every file by default. So, I think this setting is already enabled by default like what @jscher2000 said.

@Prophaniti - if you are not getting prompted to download for the file, can you please check the preferences for the content type is set to download automatically - Firefox -> Preferences -> Applications -> Check the option for the media type and see if that is already set to download.

Thank you
