how do I resize the border to the old size?

I was forced to "upgrade" to the new version of Firefox, and after 2 hours of work I've managed figure out how to fix almost all of the configuration stuff Firefox screwed up. I have one last issue to resolve. The outside border use to be the standard windows size. However, the forced upgrade has changed that to a very, very, very thin border. How do I change it back to the proper size?

You mean the area on the left, bottom, and right of the window? I may have to get on a Windows XP system to see/hack the problem, because on Windows 7, I don't notice any change from the border in Firefox 28.

My old XP system shows the same skinny window borders in Fx28 and Fx29. Perhaps you were using a custom theme before?

Well, hopefully someone has a new solution for you.

Thanks for your response. I've attached a pic for clarification. See how skinny the border is, even at the top?

Hi RicG7777, yes, the menu is about as close to the top edge as physically possible. Yours is missing in your screen shot, which might mean the top of the Firefox window is a few pixels off the screen. Either way, someone might be able to develop a custom style rule to help fatten up the borders.

For an example of what I mean, check out this old thread where several forum contributors and users participated in experimenting with different style rules: Change firefox border padding. No idea whether the old rules work in Firefox 29.
