I want to override a filter and move a filtered message to another folder. It keeps bouncing back.

I use filters to have my e-mails in different folders. Before, once a message was filtered and automatically moved to its designated folder, it was possible to move the message later manually to another folder. Now, with Thunderbird 52.8.0, when I try to manually move a message to a different folder, the filter turns on and sends it right back to where it's supposed to go according to the filter. How do I override the filter? I do not want to create a permanent exception, I just want to move one single e-mail to another folder. Now it bounces right back after a few seconds.

Filters generally only run automatically on the Inbox and maybe the Sent folder. You can run a filter on any folder manually.

Given the symptoms, and assuming that your Inbox is not involved, I'd suspect that something outside of Thunderbird is doing this. If it's an IMAP-connected account then you might be seeing the effects of a server-side filtering process, maybe your ISP or email provider's anti-spam system.

Unfortunately, some of them (yahoo?) don't offer any way for the user to intervene and teach or train it.

Now, if you move this message to your Local Folders account, does it stay put? That would be one way of taking it beyond the reach of a server.
