Very similar to posts in previous years that are archived and largely unanswered or not up-to-date.

I opened up my a Firefox session to find out I was logged out of sync and when I logged back in all my passwords where erased.

This has been stable for the last 10 months and Firefox has provided a reliable password archive with nice syncing features. However, this is a deal breaker, since I cannot loose the login credentials randomly.

No updates. No conscious logging out. No disregarding warnings etc.

Anyway to revert or retrieve?

Is there a reason for the old version of Firefox? I recommend running several version of Firefox so that you can sync your data to the other versions as backup. If you logged into Firefox with nothing then that is what will sync.

Debian 10 :)

I recommend running several version of Firefox so that you can sync your data to the other versions as backup.

I see, interesting work around, thanks for the suggestion.

I do have Firefox on my phone and notice the login/passwords are intact there. If I sync from my phone, will it erase the database, replacing it with the "nothing" that is showing on my desktop version? (On the desktop, when logged in to the same account it is empty of logins/passwords.)

If you logged into Firefox with nothing then that is what will sync.

I don't understand what it means to login into Firefox with nothing. There was no recent update, no (conscious) logging out... can you clarify this?

More practical ideas, clarification, and confirmation, especially around the syncing process, are appreciated. Cheers.

When you logged back in with no data, that eventually synced erasing what was on the sync server.

Since the data is on your phone you should be able to send your data to your computer. see screenshot I'm not a fan of Firefox on Android so I'm not familiar with the process, but it shouldn't be too hard.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion... that is for sending a tab to another device... it's nice feature, but doesn't relate to the logins/password, at least when sharing a tab in the android version... In the android version there is an option to "Sync now" (and select what to sync)... it appears to do that automagically, but is not updating Firefox on my desktop...

I can't find any help pages or help requests that clarify or answer this, they just all vaguely refer to "syncing" passwords/logins, but aren't even clear what direction data gets pushed and how any conflicts might get resolved, nor how to do the push in the first place... for example, assuming I can "sync" my logins/passwords, which version would be the source and which the sink [sic]?

If your data is on your phone then I would ass-u-me that you can get it to your desktop. The account on your phone is the same one you're using on the desktop right? If so, I would try downloading another version of Firefox, run it from the folder and then log into your Firefox account and see if your data comes over. Make sure you have all options check in sync. I don't use Firefox on Android, but curious to see if this works.

I noticed the stable release version of firefox I was running still had "Lockwise" and that some users reported dis-functionality and Mozilla discontinued it in December (not sure why). So I took the opportunity to (try) and update to the latest version of Firefox by adding the unstable repository etc. (recall Debian 10 standard is firefox-esr, which is this older version 78 with Lockwise). On install of Firefox from the sid repository (unstable) there were dozens of new libraries that I naively also installed (I was really motivated to install the latest version of Firefox--what could go wrong :) ?) and appear to have replaced something critical, so can no longer bootup up my computer... I'll report back if/when I get it back... but it's now a low priority, so I may get back to it in a week or so.

Only the Lockwise app for mobile devices is discontinued and you can't (re)install the app, but if installed then it should still work. Current Firefox releases for desktop and mobile still have the Lockwise Password Manager built-in.

Are you currently connected to Sync with a mobile or desktop device ?

You can install the About Sync extension in Firefox 72 and newer on desktop to check what data is stored on the Sync server via the about:sync page provided by this extension.

Close and restart Firefox to access the about:sync page added by this extension (see the about:about page for possible about pages).

That's why I said to just download and run it from the folder(no install process needed...). Keep it simple....
